Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of development projects in Jammu and Kashmir. The focus of the meeting was to assess infrastructure development and the implementation of key schemes across the Union Territory, officials said.
The meeting, held at Lok Bhawan in Jammu, is attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat and other senior officials.
Shah, who arrived late on Thursday for his three-day visit to the UT, began his tour on Friday with a visit to forward outposts of the Border Security Force (BSF) at Gurnam and Bobiyan along the International Border in Kathua district.
On his return from Kathua, Shah chaired a security review meeting, which was attended by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, focusing on efforts to free Jammu and Kashmir from decades of terrorism.
The Home Minister also met the families of those killed in terrorist attacks and policemen who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
He handed over job letters to the next of kin of the deceased personnel under the government’s compassionate employment policy.
In a post on X, Amit Shah wrote, “I held meetings in Jammu with the state office-bearers and MLAs and MPs of the J-K BJP. The BJP will continue working to ensure the ground-level reach of Modiji’s development initiatives while expanding the organisation to realise the vision of a developed and secure Jammu and Kashmir.”
The Home Minister is likely to return to Delhi this afternoon after the conclusion of the review meeting in Srinagar, officials added.
