Many environmentalists, citizens, representatives of various voluntary organisations, as well as many young people interested in nature from all over Ahmedabad took part in this event, planting trees in order to fulfil the dream of having a 'Green Ahmedabad.'

Determined towards making the environment of Ahmedabad clean, green, and healthy, a large scale plantation drive was conducted on Sunday within the ambit of Five Million Trees Campaign in the presence of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The plantation drive was organised in the Sabarmati Ashram Gaushala Plot which is run by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). This has been done as a support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign.

Nature conservation and protection is not only considered to be a moral and social responsibility but also a significant part of the culture of India. The organisers stressed that the future of Ahmedabad could be ensured by ensuring that each one of its citizens takes it upon themselves to plant and nurture trees. The drive inspired citizens to accept this social responsibility, reminding them that every little step goes a long way in building a healthier and stronger future. Many environmentalists, citizens, representatives of various voluntary organisations, as well as many young people interested in nature from all over Ahmedabad took part in this event, planting trees in order to fulfil the dream of having a 'Green Ahmedabad.'

Participants of the event included Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Mayor of Ahmedabad Hitesh Barot, MLAs Jitendra Patel and Amit Shah, Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani, Chairman of the National Dairy Development Board Meenesh Shah, BJP City President Prerak Shah, members of the municipality, and other office bearers. ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ is an environmental campaign which has been launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Its objective is to mobilise the people for taking part in protecting the environment and making them aware of the importance of planting more and more trees. The idea behind the campaign is to bring together the feelings related to motherhood with the collective sense of environmental responsibility among the people.
