The family of Khadoor Sahib MP and chief of 'Waris Punjab De' Amritpal Singh announced plans to complain to the Cyber police regarding a fake letter that has been circulating online claiming that Singh had discussed a potential Sikh-BJP alliance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah during a recent oath-taking ceremony in Delhi.
The viral letter suggests that Amritpal Singh proposed a collaboration between his political party, which is focused on Sikh issues, and the BJP, aiming to work together for the welfare of Punjabis. The letter also includes several demands, including the release of imprisoned Sikhs and punishment for those responsible for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, said Sukhchain Singh, Amritpal's uncle and a retired Inspector with the Punjab Police.
Singh has strongly denied any involvement in the letter, which he alleges was forged. He added that the letter falsely attributed demands related to the 1984 riots, including the conviction of Sajjan Kumar, a prominent figure linked to the violence.
"The letter is fake," said Singh, adding, "These are not his signatures. We are complaining to the Cyber Police for action regarding the fake letter".
The matter is now being investigated, and the family has sought legal action against those responsible for spreading the fake document. The police are working to trace the origins of the letter and take appropriate action.
"We should leave the issue of Khalistan for now and focus on securing more rights for Punjab. In the future, we must become politically strong. Let us attain power and then discuss the progress of Punjab under the provisions of the Indian Constitution. We also need to make agreements. If we have to make an agreement with the Bharatiya Janata Party for the welfare of Punjab, then we will have no problem. The common Sikh should also not have any objection. All Sikhs should support us. We do not seek power for political ambition but for the welfare of Punjab", the letter further reads.
