Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday warned that displaying 'I Love Muhammad' placards is a deliberate attempt to disrupt festivals and disturb public peace.
Speaking on the issue, Dhami said, " It is a deliberate conspiracy aimed at creating unrest and disturbance during our festivals and religious rituals. Behind this are the powers who cannot see India getting strengthened...Those who are not able to digest the development in the resolution of 'Viksit Bharat' under the guidance of PM Modi...”
He added that "If you are attached to someone, then who gave you the right to roam around carrying a placard with their name on it? If you love and respect someone, then that respect is only true when it is reflected in your behaviour."
Dhami also warned that anyone causing damage to government or private property during the unrest would be dealt with firmly. "This kind of anarchy will not be tolerated on this land (Uttarakhand). Strict action will be taken against such elements...Be it government property or private property, whoever the rioter is, will be made to pay for it, and this will be done very strictly," he said.
Meanwhile, heavy police deployment continued in Bareilly city, Uttar Pradesh. The city has remained tense since a protest over 'I Love Muhammad' posters turned violent on September 26.
