Lokanandam had been residing in his village of Sompeta in Srikakulam district until recently, after returning from Kuwait for the elections and other commitments.

However, on the same day that he went back to the West Asian country, he tragically passed away, according to a relative.

The news of Lokanandam's unexpected death after his return from his hometown to his workplace country cast a pall of grief over the village of Sompeta on Friday, as his relatives and acquaintances gathered at his home upon hearing the news.

Lokanandam’s mother was surrounded by mourning relatives, unable to be consoled by the loss of her son.

Three migrant workers from the state lost their lives in a recent fire incident in Kuwait.

The Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS), the central agency for NRI and migrant worker affairs, announced on Thursday that T Lokanandam from Srikakulam district and M Satyanarayana and M Eshwarudu from West Godavari district were among the deceased.

"As part of his return journey (to Kuwait), Lokanandam had gone to Hyderabad on June 5, stayed there for four days and then reached Kuwait on June 11," Lokanadam’s brother-in-law Santha Rao said.

Lokanandam, who was the sole provider for his family, passed away, and the residents of Sompeta have sought the assistance of Union Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu in bringing his body back.

The bodies of Lokanandam, Satyanarayana, and Eshwarudu are scheduled to reach New Delhi by Friday afternoon, following which they will be transported to Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada airports for onward transit to their respective hometowns.
