Google and the Government of Andhra Pradesh have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the state.
The collaboration will focus on sectors like healthcare and environmental sustainability, with a particular emphasis on developing an AI-ready workforce and empowering local startups.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was exchanged in Amaravati in the presence of Nara Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for IT, Electronics, and Communications, along with Bikram Singh Bedi, Vice President and Country MD of Google Cloud India, and S. Suresh Kumar, Secretary of the Real Time Governance Society, Andhra Pradesh.
Google's commitment to the partnership includes providing 10,000 certificates for its Google AI Essentials course, aimed at upskilling individuals and making them ready for the AI-driven economy.
Additionally, the tech giant will offer resources for educators to meet the growing demand for computer science education.
"This collaboration is a significant step towards realising our vision of an inclusive, sustainable ecosystem where AI drives progress in critical sectors. Together, we aim to build an AI-ready workforce, a thriving startup ecosystem, and ensure the lasting benefits of AI for all," said Nara Lokesh.
The partnership will also see Google collaborate with government agencies to offer certifications in various fields such as cybersecurity, data analytics, and generative AI.
Moreover, Google will support Andhra Pradesh’s startup ecosystem by providing mentorship, networking opportunities, and access to the Google for Startups Accelerator programme.
Eligible AI startups will benefit from cloud credits, technical training, and business support.
Bikram Singh Bedi expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We are excited to combine Google's AI expertise with the state's vision to cultivate an AI-ready workforce, support local startups, and address areas like healthcare and sustainability."
As AI technology continues to reshape industries, this collaboration positions Andhra Pradesh as a potential hub for AI innovation, capable of advancing key sectors through transformative solutions.
