Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu recently announced that AI (Artificial Intelligence) lessons will be introduced from Grade 5 in all government schools across the state.
This move aims to prepare students for future challenges in a world increasingly shaped by technology.
The announcement was made during a workshop on AI held on Thursday.
During the workshop, Naidu was briefed on AI’s impact across various sectors, particularly in IT. Experts highlighted how AI is transforming industries and stressed the need for skill training to prevent job displacement due to automation.
Naidu also discussed AI's potential in agriculture. He pointed out that drones are being used in northern states to spray pesticides and identify crop diseases. He believes Andhra Pradesh could benefit from adopting similar technology to boost productivity in farming.

The Chief Minister suggested that AI training should be provided to women in self-help groups, particularly those in agriculture. Teaching them how to operate drones using AI could help increase efficiency. He also emphasised the need to reskill current IT professionals to secure their jobs in a world where AI is becoming more integrated.
Naidu also revealed plans for an AI university in the state. He believes that introducing AI concepts from an early age will prepare students to thrive in the future. The government is also focused on supporting the startup ecosystem by identifying promising ventures and offering financial assistance to help them grow.
