Even as the country is still coming to terms with the tragic flash flood in Dharali village, another cloudburst was reported in Harsil, Uttarkashi, near an Indian Army camp.
The Surya Command of the Indian Army shared on its social media handle, "A massive mudslide struck Dharali village in the KheerGad area near Harsil, triggering sudden flow of debris and water through the settlement.”
A video from the site showed water rushing down the hill after a massive landslide. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported from this area so far.
Troops from the Ibex Brigade, the Army’s mountain brigade, were quickly sent to the site in Harsil. They are now on the ground, assessing the damage and helping with rescue operations.
In a post on X, the Army said, “The Army stands resolute in support of our citizens during this natural calamity.” Another Army team from Harsil is already working at the site of the cloudburst in Dharali, where floodwaters destroyed homes and killed four people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences and support to those affected and assured that no stone is being left unturned in providing assistance.
"I express my condolences to the people affected by this tragedy in Dharali, Uttarkashi. Along with this, I pray for the well-being of all the victims. I have spoken to Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami ji and obtained information about the situation. Under the supervision of the state government, relief and rescue teams are engaged in every possible effort. No stone is being left unturned in providing assistance to the people," he wrote on X in Hindi.
