‘Anti-India mindset’: Kangana targets Rahul after SC rebuke

A day after the Supreme Court raised concerns over Rahul Gandhi’s comments, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut accused the Leader of Opposition of having an “anti-India mindset” and supporting enemy nations.

Speaking to the media, Kangana said, “Rahul Gandhi always speaks against India, whether it’s about the economy or the defence forces. He often supports what enemy countries say. This attitude is clearly anti-India. I welcome the Supreme Court’s decision to question him. Others should also be careful not to say things that hurt the honour and morale of our country.”

The Supreme Court bench, led by Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih, criticised Gandhi for his remarks about the 2022 India-China clash. The court questioned how Gandhi knew that China had occupied 2,000 square kilometres of Indian land.

Justice Datta asked, “Where is the credible proof? If you’re truly Indian, would you say this, especially during a conflict at the border?” The bench also questioned why Gandhi chose to post these claims on social media instead of speaking in Parliament. Justice Datta said, “If you have something to say, why not say it in Parliament? Why post it on social media?”

Rahul Gandhi had made these comments on December 16, 2022, during his Bharat Jodo Yatra. He had said that while people ask questions about internal politics, no one questions the government about China capturing land, killing 20 Indian soldiers, or attacking troops in Arunachal Pradesh.

He added, “The Indian media doesn’t ask them anything about this. But the nation is watching. People are aware, don’t pretend they’re not.”
