A joint cordon and search operation being carried out by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the dense forest areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector of Rajouri district entered its seventh consecutive day on Friday, officials said.

The large-scale anti-terror operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs indicating the presence of suspected terrorists hiding in the thick forest region. Security forces have since intensified search and combing efforts across the rugged terrain to track down and neutralise the militants.

Officials said the operation gained momentum on Thursday when heavy firing and shelling broke out in the Dorimal forest area of Rajouri as Operation Sheruwali entered a crucial phase. Security agencies tightened the security cordon around the suspected hideout locations to prevent the militants from escaping through the dense forest cover.

According to officials, a massive deployment of troops has been maintained in and around the encounter site. Additional reinforcements, surveillance equipment and logistical support have also been rushed to the area to strengthen the operation and maintain what officials described as a “strong and impenetrable cordon.”

Security forces are carrying out the operation on a large scale, with extensive search operations continuing deep inside the forest belt. Officials said every possible effort is being made to eliminate the militants believed to be hiding in the area.

The entire region remains under strict security surveillance, with forces maintaining a tight perimeter around the forest zone. Search teams are conducting intensive combing operations in difficult terrain amid heightened alertness.

Officials said the operation was initiated after intelligence agencies received credible information regarding the movement and possible presence of terrorists in the area. Since then, multiple units of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF have been jointly engaged in flushing out the suspected militants from their hideouts.

Operation Sheruwali is being described as a major counter-terrorism operation in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. The coordinated operation reflects the ongoing efforts of security agencies to prevent militant activities and maintain security in the region.
