BJP workers, led by MP Anurag Thakur, held a protest in Hamirpur against the suspension of HRTC bus services in different parts of the district.
The protesters, including MLA Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, raised slogans against the state government. They alleged that HRTC services were being repeatedly disrupted because of the government’s policies, shortage of diesel and poor maintenance of buses. They said several bus routes were being shut down, causing major inconvenience to the public.
The BJP leaders demanded that the suspended services be restored at the earliest. They said the bus routes between Jharnot and Awahdevi, and Jahu and Jharnot, had also been discontinued.
People in rural areas, students, employees, senior citizens and traders who depend on these routes are facing serious problems in commuting, they said.
According to locals, the disruption in bus services is affecting day-to-day life in the area.
The BJP leaders urged the state government to restore all suspended routes in public interest and take concrete steps to improve the condition of the HRTC. They also warned that if public grievances continued to be ignored, the party and local residents would intensify their protest in the coming days.
