BJP MP Anurag Thakur on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Pakistan, accusing it of aiding and abetting terrorism, and asserted that India will respond decisively to the Pahalgam terror attack with no scope for "pardon" this time.
Addressing BJP workers at Sundernagar in Mandi district and later at Bilaspur town, Thakur said Pakistan is "panic-stricken" following India's retaliatory actions and is issuing "empty threats", but India will not be cowed down.
His remarks come in the aftermath of the terror attack near the popular tourist town of Pahalgam in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Tuesday, where 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed and several others injured after terrorists opened fire at a meadow. In response, security measures have been tightened across Kashmir, particularly around tourist hubs.
Reacting to Pakistan People's Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s warning following India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, Thakur said India remains firm and will not alter its course of action.
"More trouble awaits Pakistan as India is determined to escalate its actions," the former Union minister said, adding that it was "shameful" for Pakistani leaders to issue threats even after encouraging terrorism and the massacre of innocents in Pahalgam.
