Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar took the oath as the 23rd Governor of Kerala at a ceremony at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. Kerala High Court Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar administered the oath at 10:30 am.
Arlekar succeeded Arif Mohammad Khan, who was transferred to become the Governor of Bihar.
The ceremony was attended by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his Cabinet members, and leaders from various political parties.

Arlekar arrived in Kerala's capital on Wednesday and was welcomed at the airport by Chief Minister Vijayan, Kerala Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer, and ministers K Rajan and Ramachandran Kadannappally.
Last week, President Droupadi Murmu appointed Khan as the new Governor of Bihar and made Arlekar the Governor of Kerala.

The event was attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, and other state officials.
Khan succeeded Arlekar, who is now Kerala's Governor. Speaking to reporters after his arrival in Patna, Khan said, "I know the glorious history of Bihar. It has a big impact on me. I will try to fulfill my duties in line with the state's rich heritage and tradition."
