Security forces late on Friday recovered an arms cache dropped by a Pakistan-based drone near the forward area along the international border in Samba district, officials said.

According to officials, the recovered items included two pistols, three magazines and 16 live rounds of ammunition, along with one hand grenade.

The recovery was made during a joint operation initiated by security forces after specific inputs about suspicious drone activity along the international border. The area was cordoned off, and a thorough combing and search operation was launched to trace any further drops, they said.

Security forces were unable to trace the intended recipients or any suspected individuals linked to the consignment. No arrests have been made so far, they added.

Meanwhile, security agencies have initiated further investigations to ascertain the intended recipients of the consignment and the route used for its delivery, officials said.

Separately, security forces on Friday launched a massive cordon-and-search operation in the Katli area of Samba district after noticing suspicious movement.

A joint team of the Special Operations Group (SOG), police and the CRPF also launched a search-and-comb operation in the forest areas of Sidhra on the outskirts of Jammu city.
