Army on Tuesday said that they have killed all three militants involved in an ambush on an army ambulance on Monday in Jammu District.
Sharing the news on micro-blogging platform X, The Army’s White Knight Corps wrote, “After round-the-clock surveillance throughout the night, an intense firefight unfolded today morning resulting in a significant victory for our forces. Relentless operations and tactical excellence have led to the elimination of three terrorists. The operation also saw the successful recovery of war-like stores, marking a critical step in maintaining security in the region.”
During the action, the Indian Army's brave dog, a Belgian Malinois, lost his life in an anti-terror mission at Akhnoor in the Sundarbani area of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning Phantom, who served the army since August 2022, was seriously injured while drawing enemy fire.
Earlier on Monday, three militants ambushed an Army ambulance in the Battal area, with swift retaliation from the security forces the militants fled the scene prompting a search operation.
The operation started on Monday morning and by late evening one militant was already neutralised in the action. The first of three militants was killed by the special operations group by NSG commandos.
Following a night of relative calm, security forces launched a final attack on the Battal area at Khour around 7 am, prompting another firefight with the militants.
The second fighter was killed following the usage of heavy explosive rounds by the army during the encounter.
The operation also saw the usage of four BMP II infantry Combat Vehicles to improve and intensify the fighting around the encounter site.
Additionally, helicopters and drones were also used to search for the remaining militants, and on Tuesday morning the forces re-established contact and neutralised the last remaining militant.
