Search operations continued on Friday morning in Baramulla following a deadly terror attack that claimed the lives of two army soldiers and two porters. The attack occurred last night when suspected terrorists targeted a military convoy vehicle near Gulmarg.
A joint search operation was initiated on Thursday night to track down the assailants, who fled the scene after carrying out the attack.
According to Indian Army officials, one soldier and one porter were injured and are currently undergoing treatment.
In a post on X, the valley-based Chinar Corps stated, “A brief firefight took place between the Indian Army and terrorists in the general area of Botapathri, Baramulla. During the firefight, two soldiers and two porters have suffered injuries and have been evacuated for medical care.”
Later updates from the Chinar Corps confirmed, “During the intense firefight, two soldiers and two porters have suffered injuries and have been evacuated for medical care. Operation in progress.”
This incident follows an earlier attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, where a migrant worker identified as Pritam Singh from Uttar Pradesh was injured by terrorists.
On October 20, a doctor and six construction workers were killed when terrorists attacked a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Ganderbal district.
The Pakistan-based TRF, an offshoot of the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack. Lashkar Commander Sajjad Gul has been named the mastermind of the Gagangir attack.
