The Indian Army is adjusting its deployment in the Jammu region due to the infiltration of highly trained Pakistani terrorists.

Around 500 Para Special Forces commandos have been deployed to track down the 50-55 terrorists who have entered the area.

Intelligence agencies are also enhancing their efforts to dismantle the terrorist support network, which includes local helpers.

The Army has moved a brigade consisting of approximately 3,500-4,000 soldiers to counter these threats.

Military leadership on the ground are developing strategies to locate and eliminate the terrorists, who are equipped with modern weapons and communication devices.

Additionally, the existing counter-terrorism units in the area, including the Romeo forces of the Rashtriya Rifles, are actively involved in the operations along with regular infantry divisions.

Elements of the 26 Infantry Division moved to Doda will be replaced by units from other parts of the Western Command.

This command includes three corps: the 2 Strike Corps in Ambala, the 11 Corps in Jalandhar, and the 9 Corps in Yol, near Palampur.

The 26 Infantry Division, under the 9 Corps, is tasked with protecting the National Highway. The 198 km International Border that J&K shares with Pakistan lies within the Jammu division and is manned by the Border Security Force (BSF).

According to sources, the Army needs additional personnel as terrorists are hiding in caves within dense forests, requiring search operations to cover a wider area.

The Army believes these terrorists are trained in survival tactics, ambushing, and targeting, enabling them to survive for days without outside contact.

The terrain in the Jammu region includes many rivulets along the boundary with Pakistan, which are in spate during the monsoon and provide opportunities for terrorists to infiltrate into India.

The decision was taken after back-to-back terror ambushes in the Jammu region in recent months.
