In a strategic move to boost its economic prospects, Arunachal Pradesh aims to generate ₹10,000 crore annually from its hydroelectric projects.
Deputy Chief Minister and Power Minister Chowna Mein disclosed this ambitious goal, highlighting the expected revenue from the completion of 13 hydel projects.
Despite encountering bureaucratic obstacles and local opposition, Mein expressed unwavering support from the Power Department for the central power sector undertakings involved in these projects.
He spotlighted the importance of advancing two major initiatives: the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower and the 2800 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project.
These projects are pivotal in enhancing the state's power generation capacity and fostering economic growth.
Addressing ongoing power outages, Mein announced the construction of new transmission lines, which are expected to resolve load-shedding issues by 2025.
The state government is committed to leveraging Arunachal Pradesh's vast water resources for hydroelectric development, while carefully addressing environmental and local concerns.
