Chief Minister Pema Khandu launched the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign from the Civil Secretariat in Itanagar on Saturday, marking the beginning of a week-long celebration as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, which commemorates 75 years of India's independence.

The initiative encourages citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes from August 9 to 15, now recognised as Independence Week.

The event commenced with Khandu distributing national flags to students from various schools and vibrant villages across the state, symbolising the unity and pride represented by the tricolour.

To further promote national spirit, a cyclothon featuring 78 cyclists was flagged off by the Chief Minister, carrying a message of healthy living while traversing various parts of the state and spreading awareness about the significance of maintaining both national pride and personal health.

During the ceremony, Khandu administered the Tiranga pledge, reinforcing the commitment to upholding the honour and dignity of the national flag.

Certificates were awarded to participants in recognition of their contributions to the campaign, while patriotic songs performed during the event stirred a sense of national pride among attendees, including several dignitaries.

A large tricolour flag was unfurled by Khandu, serving as a powerful visual reminder of the campaign's goals.

He urged all residents to participate actively by hoisting the national flag at their homes, reflecting the collective pride and unity of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Har Ghar Tiranga program will run from August 9 to 15, with a series of patriotic events planned at both state and district levels, including Tiranga processions, rallies, runs, and marathons.

Freedom fighters and their families will be honored at local events for their sacrifices for the nation.

Speaking to media persons, CM Khandu stressed the importance of national pride and honour, urging citizens to take selfies with the national flag and inspire others to participate.

Noting the widespread support for the campaign, he highlighted that last year, the national flag was hoisted from border towns to foothill villages across Arunachal Pradesh.

This year, the initiative has been expanded, with flags sent to every district to ensure the message of patriotism reaches every corner of the state.

“Our Prime Minister appealed for hoisting national flags, and last year, we proudly displayed them from border to foothill towns,” Khandu stated.

“This time, we have sent flags to every district and spread the message of patriotism across the country, affirming our readiness to sacrifice for the nation. This cyclothon also promotes a healthy lifestyle for all,” he added.
