A Punjab Police Assistant Sub-Inspector was found dead with gunshot wounds in Amritsar early on Sunday morning, officials said. Police rushed to the spot and initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. The deceased has been identified as ASI Joga Singh.
Officials said they are investigating all possible angles, including personal enmity and road rage, in connection with the cop’s death.
A forensic team was sent to examine the scene where the body was found. An officer present at the incident site said the cop’s body with gunshot wounds was found near the Fatehgarh Churian–Majitha road in Amritsar on Sunday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (Amritsar Rural) Sohail Qasim Mir, police received information about the body of ASI Joga Singh early on Sunday morning. He said the Station House Officer of Majitha police station, along with a team, reached the spot shortly after the incident was reported.
The body was later shifted to the Civil Hospital in Amritsar for post-mortem examination. “We are investigating all possible angles into the incident, including personal enmity, road rage, or professional rivalry,” the SSP said, adding that the investigation is underway.
