Asia's largest tulip garden welcomes 17,000 on opening day

Asia’s largest tulip garden in Srinagar opened to an overwhelming response on Wednesday, drawing massive crowds as visitors flocked to witness the spectacular floral display. 


The grand inauguration was conducted by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, marking the beginning of what is expected to be a season of record-breaking footfall.


On the first day alone, the garden welcomed an unprecedented 17,259 visitors, setting a new benchmark in its history. The surge in attendance included locals, national tourists, and high-end travelers, all eager to witness the breathtaking sight of over 1.70 million tulips in full bloom. 


Authorities anticipate even larger crowds in the coming days, with upcoming festivities likely to draw more visitors to the iconic destination.


In an official statement, the Department of Floriculture, Gardens & Parks expressed its deep gratitude to the public, particularly national and international tourists, for their enthusiastic response to the grand opening. 


The department also acknowledged the seamless coordination of multiple agencies, including the Divisional and District administration, Jammu & Kashmir Police, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, PWD, KPDCL, and other allied organisations. 


Their efforts in ensuring security, cleanliness, and essential services played a pivotal role in making the event a resounding success.
