A video released by the Assam BJP has sparked a political firestorm, with AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi calling it “disgusting” and alleging it promotes a “Muslim-mukt Bharat” agenda.
The clip, posted on the party’s official X handle and titled “Assam Without BJP,” portrays men in skull caps, apparently Muslims, dominating public spaces such as tea estates, airports and the Guwahati Accoland. The AI-generated video concludes with a stark message, “Choose Your Vote Carefully.”
Owaisi condemned the video, asserting, “BJP Assam has posted a disgusting AI video that shows a Muslim-majority Assam if there was no BJP. They are not fear-mongering just for votes, this is the repulsive Hindutva ideology in true form. The very existence of Muslims in India is a problem for them, their dream is a Muslim-mukt Bharat. Besides this constant whining, they’ve no vision for India.”

Responding to the criticism, Assam Minister Piyush Hazarika defended the video as an attempt to highlight the threat posed by illegal immigrants allegedly altering the state’s demography. “The video clearly spoke about the threat of illegal immigrants who are changing Assam’s demography, but instantly these ‘champions of secularism’ screamed Islamophobia!” he wrote on X, questioning the logic of critics.
The controversy emerges as Assam prepares for assembly elections next year, with political rhetoric intensifying. Analysts note that the debate over the video underscores the highly charged atmosphere surrounding identity and migration issues in the state.a
