Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his condolences to the family of Avinash Sarkar, an 8-year-old who tragically lost his life after falling into a drain amid heavy rains on July 4.
Sarma, visiting the Sarkar residence, assured them of the government's steadfast support during this difficult period.
Avinash's body was recovered on July 7 after an extensive three-day search operation, bringing closure to his grieving parents, Hiralal and his wife, who identified their son at Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
Scientific procedures are currently underway at the hospital.
The incident unfolded in Jyotinagar, where Avinash slipped from his father's scooter during inclement weather, swept away by the strong currents despite his father's desperate efforts to save him.
The parents had been steadfastly present at the search site, hoping against hope for a positive outcome.
Expressing his condolences on X, Sarma remarked, "Avinash's parents face an unimaginable tragedy. We stand united with them in their sorrow. Om Shanti ππΌ."
Earlier, Sarma had visited the Sarkar family to oversee the search efforts personally and offer solace.
