Assam minister Atul Bora is embroiled in a controversy after being accused of illegally administering vaccines to flood-affected animals in Golaghat's Bongkuwal village.

Photographs of Bora injecting animals at a veterinary camp surfaced on social media, prompting Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), a leading farmers’ organisation, to file a police complaint against him.

Hirakjyoti Saikia, the Golaghat General Secretary of KMSS, contended that Bora’s actions could endanger the animals as he lacks the necessary veterinary qualifications.

According to Saikia, this act constitutes a punishable offense under the law.

A senior official from Golaghat Police Station confirmed receiving the complaint but noted that an FIR has not yet been registered.

The case is under investigation to determine the appropriate legal steps.

The controversy arose following the circulation of the photographs on social media, showing Atul Bora vaccinating animals at the veterinary camp.

The KMSS, a prominent farmers’ organisation, has lodged a complaint against the minister, highlighting concerns over the safety of the animals.

In his defense, Bora stated that he has been vaccinating pets since childhood, a practice common in the region.

"I have been involved in animal care for years, and this is not something new to me," the Assam minister remarked.

As the investigation continues, the incident has sparked a debate over the appropriateness of Bora's actions and the legal implications.

The KMSS insists that Bora’s lack of veterinary qualifications makes his actions unlawful and potentially harmful to the animals he intended to help.
