Assam police have detained a 38-year-old woman for the alleged killing of her husband and hiding his body in their home compound at Pandu locality in Guwahati city, officials confirmed on Monday.
The gory incident occurred at Joymoti Nagar locality of Pandu in the state. The victim, Sabial Rahman a scrap dealer was killed by his wife, Rahima Khatun, 38, on June 26, according to the police. A senior police officer said that, following June 26 she informed her acquaintance that her husband had travelled to Kerala for work, but the victim's brother came to the police on July 12 and went to the police to lodge a complaint on Sabial Rahman going missing.
On July 13, a woman Rahima Khatun visited Jalukbari police station informed police that, her husband Sabial Rahman who was missing already died and she killed her husband. On June 26 evening, there was a tussle between them at home and Sabial Rahman was in state of intoxication and Sabial died from injury. She buried the body of her husband in the compound of their house," Padmanav Baruah, DCP (West) of Guwahati city police explained.

Suspecting involvement of several individuals in the case, he added, "We suspect that 2-3 more people are also involved because it is not possible for a lady to dug a pit and to bury the body."
This crime has occurred just a couple of weeks after the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi in the adjacent state of Meghalaya, who was murdered while on his honeymoon.
The Shillong court has remanded accused Shilom James to 14 days of judicial custody. Two other accused, builder Lokendra Tomar and watchman Balveer Ahirwar (also referred to as Billa), were remanded to 7 days of judicial custody after their previous 6-day police remand got over.
Earlier, a Shillong Police team had confiscated a CCTV DVR from the Indore home of Shilom James as part of the murder case. Family members of Raja Raghuvanshi said that they would appeal before the Meghalaya High Court for the Narco test of the accused.
