Attacks on Kashmiris show ‘Hitler mindset’: Farooq

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference chief Dr Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said people targeting Kashmiri shawl sellers or labourers are clearly following “Adolf Hitler’s path”.

 

He expressed hope that these “rogue and anti-national” elements would vanish eventually. He slammed those aiding or facilitating attacks on common Kashmiris across different parts of the country, saying, “Some elements aim to create a Nazi-era Hitler-type regime in this country.”

 

During a brief media interaction, he said, “Despite the evil regime, Hitler disappeared; he shot himself, and Nazism ended there, and the time will come here also when these extremists will also vanish from the country.”


The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister prayed for peace, brotherhood and friendship with India’s neighbouring nations at the start of the New Year.

 

Farooq also prayed for early rain and snowfall, as dry weather conditions have persisted across Jammu and Kashmir for the past two months. “I pray to God that peace prevails in the country and wiser heads in neighbouring nations take centre stage,” he said.


When asked about External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s participation in the funeral of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Farooq highlighted the strong bond and bilateral relations, suggesting that the friendship needs to be improve.

 

He said it was a welcoming step that Jaishankar had attended the funeral. “Bangladesh has been our ally and friend; we need to make it stronger,” he said.
