Auto driver's 'no romance' warning goes viral

Autorickshaw driver's strict 'No Romance' rule and OYO warning go viral, sparking laughter and praise on social media.

News Arena Network - Mumbai - UPDATED: January 6, 2025, 05:50 PM - 2 min read

A photo, clicked by a passenger while sitting in the back of an auto, captured the warning issued by the driver.

An autorickshaw driver's unique set of rules for passengers has gone viral, sparking widespread amusement and social media reactions. Shared by a 23-year-old user named Anya on X (formerly Twitter), a photo showed the driver's strict instructions displayed on a printed board in his vehicle.

The board, placed on the back of the driver’s seat, contained a bold warning: “Warning!! No romance. This is a cab, not your private place or OYO, so please keep distance and stay calm. Give respect, take respect. Thank you.”

The humorous yet firm message quickly caught the internet’s attention. Many users found the rules relatable and funny, with one person commenting, "Imagine how often this must have happened for him to put up a sign like this."

Anya, the original poster, added a playful comment, mentioning that she assured the driver she wouldn’t break his rules.

Social media buzz over cab driver rules

The post reminded many of a similar incident last year when a cab driver's list of rules sparked debate on Reddit. That driver had requested passengers refrain from calling him "bhaiya" and to keep their "attitude in their pocket."

The blend of humor and practicality earned him widespread praise, much like the autorickshaw driver’s OYO warning has now.

Internet humor over OYO warning

The reference to OYO—known for allowing couples to book private spaces—triggered even more jokes online. Some users pointed out the irony of recent OYO guidelines in Meerut banning unmarried couples from checking in.

One commenter quipped, "Apparently even OYO has a problem with romance now!"

The viral post underscores how humor can highlight everyday challenges faced by drivers while setting boundaries for respectful behavior. As the internet chuckled over the incident, it also appreciated the driver’s candid approach to maintaining decorum in his autorickshaw.
