In a major breakthrough, the Punjab Police’s State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) has busted a terror module linked to the banned, Pakistan-backed outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), officials said on Friday.

Acting on intelligence inputs, the SSOC arrested three operatives connected to the module, which is reportedly being run by Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Rinda, the Punjab Director General of Police stated.

The DGP Punjab Police shared on X, "The group was conspiring to carry out attacks on police establishments and targeted killings in the Amritsar area. A major terror plot has been foiled, saving countless innocent lives."

During the operation, the police recovered two hand grenades, a Glock pistol, and live ammunition. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sehajpal Singh and Vikramjit Singh, both of them hail from Ramdas in Amritsar Rural, along with a juvenile.

An FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the BNS and Explosives Act at Police Station SSOC Mohali. Investigation is underway, and more arrests are expected, the police said.

On June 26, as part of its probe into the grenade attack linked to Babbar Khalsa International at the home of former Punjab Minister Manoranjan Kalia, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out multiple searches across Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

According to the agency, NIA teams raided 18 locations across the three states. During the operation, they seized several incriminating items, including mobile phones, digital devices, and documents.

According to the NIA, the searches were carried out at locations linked to individuals associated with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Kulbir Sidhu, US-based gangster Manish alias Kaka Rana, and their network of contacts in India and abroad.

Kulbir Sidhu, originally from Yamunanagar in Haryana and currently residing in Germany, is known to be a close associate of Pakistan-based Wadhawa Singh Babbar, the chief of the banned outfit BKI and a designated terrorist. Sidhu is also wanted in connection with the murder of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar, which took place in Nangal, Punjab, in April 2024.
