SIT arrives to inspect the Badrinath Temple premises

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the alleged Badrinath Temple donation theft has received the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee's (BKTC) 18-page inquiry report. Fresh CCTV footage has also helped investigators identify more suspects in the case, Uttarakhand Police said on Thursday.

According to the police, the BKTC submitted its internal inquiry report to the SIT to assist the ongoing probe into the alleged theft of temple donations.
The SIT has also found additional suspects while examining CCTV footage recorded on June 25 and June 29. Officials said these individuals will now be questioned as part of the investigation.

"More suspects are seen in the CCTV footage of June 25 and June 29, based on which the SIT will question more people in the case," police said.
Police said the SIT has now recovered the complete CCTV footage from June 29 and July 2. The recordings will be examined as investigators continue to gather evidence.

Earlier, the SIT had already retrieved and analysed CCTV footage from June 22 and June 25 as part of the investigation.

The probe into the alleged theft is continuing, with the SIT closely examining CCTV footage and collecting evidence to identify everyone involved.

On Wednesday, the SIT also seized important digital evidence from the temple premises. SIT officer Mahadev Uniyal said that investigators had taken possession of surveillance records to check for any irregularities in the handling of temple donations.

Earlier, on July 14, a committee formed to examine the alleged theft visited Badrinath Dham. The team reviewed the system for handling, transporting and counting donations, besides inspecting the arrangements inside the counting room.

The SIT has also questioned Badrinath Temple Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sohan Singh Rangad and his personal assistant, Atul Dimri, as part of the investigation. At the same time, investigators have been reviewing CCTV footage and operational records from the temple's surveillance control room to track the movement and handling of daily donations.
