The Mysore to Darbhanga 12578 Bagmati express train collided with a goods train near Kavaraipettai railway station near Tiruvellur, Chennai on Friday. The initial details regarding the collision and its aftermath are still awaited. A fire broke out from two coaches.

 
Eight coaches of the train were derailed, sources at the scene said.

No casualties were reported from the scene so far.

 

Rescue operations are in full swing, said the Thiruvallur district collector T Prabhushankar.
