The Telangana Police have stated before the Telangana High Court that Bandi Sai Bageerath has been using emotional blackmailing and sexual abuse on a minor for several times from 2025 onwards. The information has been provided in a counter affidavit by the Police, filed on Friday, July 3, against the plea for regular bail filed by Bageerath. The crime was committed at several places, including Sriram Gardens adjacent to the victim’s house and Golf Edge Apartments at Nanakramguda.

The counter affidavit was provided by Inspector K Vijayvardhan of the Pet Basheerabad Police Station. It has been established that the case had been registered first at the Pet Basheerabad station, where investigation was begun under Sections 74 and 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and also under Section 11 read with Section 12 of POCSO Act. The complaint made by the victim’s mother to the police was lodged first, and the medical test was conducted on May 9.

The educational history of the victim clearly proves that he was 17 years old. On the basis of the findings of the medical report and considering the gravity of the matter, the police decided to elevate the case to Section 5(l) along with Section 6 of POCSO Act and Section 64(2)(m) of BNS.

Taking into consideration the seriousness of the case along with the sensitivity of the minor in question, the police presented their case before the High Court on the basis that granting bail may hamper the proceedings.

The petitioner, Bageerath, who is the son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, was taken into custody by the Pet Basheerabad police in May following the complaint. Prior to his current application, a Special POCSO Court in Malkajgiri had granted him a 10-day interim bail on 20 June to allow him to sit his BBA supplementary examinations at Mahindra University.

Bageerath later approached the Telangana High Court for regular bail, maintaining his innocence and alleging that the case against him is politically motivated. The High Court has adjourned the hearing on his bail plea until July 8.
