Bangladesh has sent a 600-kg consignment of premium mangoes to Tripura as a goodwill gesture, reaffirming the longstanding cultural and diplomatic ties between the neighbouring countries.
The gift, sent by Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was presented to Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Manik Saha and other senior officials.
Bangladesh's Assistant High Commissioner in Agartala, Hasan Al Bashar Abul Ulayee, said the annual exchange of seasonal fruits had become a symbol of the cordial relationship between Bangladesh and Tripura.
"To strengthen our relationship further, the Government of Bangladesh has sent 600 kilograms of Haribhanga and Amrapali mangoes as a goodwill gift to the Chief Minister of Tripura, the Governor, and other senior officials," he said.

He added that the exchange of seasonal fruits had evolved into a cherished tradition reflecting the shared cultural warmth and enduring friendship between the two sides.
The consignment, comprising 120 cartons of Haribhanga and Amrapali mangoes, arrived through the Akhaura Integrated Check Post in Bangladesh's Brahmanbaria district. After customs clearance, it was handed over to the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala for distribution.
Bangladesh has been sending mangoes to Tripura every year as a goodwill gesture. In return, the Tripura government presents its Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged Queen variety pineapples to Bangladesh, continuing what has come to be known as "fruit diplomacy" between the neighbours.
Officials said the annual exchange not only celebrates the region's agricultural produce but also serves as a reminder of the close people-to-people ties and mutual goodwill shared by Bangladesh and the northeastern state.
The initiative has become a regular feature of bilateral engagement, symbolising friendship and reinforcing cross-border relations beyond formal diplomatic exchanges.
