Bengal govt hikes DA by 4 per cent

The increased DA will be applicable from April 1, 2024. Government employees will receive the increased DA starting from April instead of May, with the adjustment reflected in their July salary.

The West Bengal government on Tuesday announced an increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) by 4 per cent for state government employees. 

 

The increased DA will be applicable from April 1, 2024. Government employees will receive the increased DA starting from April instead of May, with the adjustment reflected in their July salary. This information was provided in a notification issued by the State Finance Department.

 

According to the notification, the employees of government-aided educational institutions, panchayats and panchayat workers under the government, municipal corporations, municipalities, local boards and pension recipients of retired government employees and their families will be eligible for it.

 

It was also told in the notification that the Governor has approved the decision to give DA after examining all the aspects.

 

On December 21 last year, during a Christmas programme in Kolkata, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a 4 per cent DA hike for state government employees.

 

Following this announcement, Nabanna issued a notification regarding the dearness allowance increase in the first week of the new year.
