A woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men who forced their way into her rented house in Bengaluru on Tuesday night. The assailants were reportedly intoxicated.
The police confirmed that five people were involved in the crime, with three individuals having been arrested for the alleged rape of the woman.
The incident is reported to have occurred between 9.30 pm and 12.15 am. The accused knocked on the woman’s door before breaking into her house.
They then took her to another room where the alleged rape took place. The attackers also stole two mobile phones and ₹25,000 in cash from the woman. Police have interviewed the woman and sent her for a medical examination.
Bengaluru Rural SP (Superintendent of Police) CK Baba confirmed the incident and the current status of the investigation. "The incident took place between 9.30 pm and 12.15 am last night. The accused knocked on the victim’s door, barged inside, took her to the next room, and raped her. They also stole two mobile phones and ₹25,000 from her," said SP CK Baba.
The survivor, who hails from Kolkata, had been living in a rented house in Bengaluru. Following her complaint, the police registered a case at the Madanayakanahalli Police Station.
The SP added that police have arrested three of the accused, while two others who were part of the crime are absconding. A search is underway to trace them.
