A tragic incident in Bengaluru on Tuesday has left a young family shattered after a 35-year-old engineer, reportedly, took her own life following a domestic dispute. The woman, identified as Sushma, a former employee of the IT firm Dell, was found at her home after what appears to have been a final, heated argument with her mother-in-law.

Sushma had been married to Puneeth Kumar for five years, and the couple shared a four-year-old son. However, according to local police, the household had become a site of frequent friction over seemingly minor domestic matters. The situation reportedly reached a breaking point yesterday during a row with her mother-in-law, Kalpana, over something as routine as cooking a meal. Sushma’s family has since spoken up, stating that Kalpana had been harassing their daughter and, in some cases, had not allowed her to even use the kitchen.

Following the death, the family has filed a case against the woman, stating that she had been giving their daughter dowry harassment. The Bengaluru police have already arrested the woman’s husband, whose name is Puneeth, on the basis of these allegations, and there is a search underway to locate Kalpana, who has gone missing.

A case has been registered, and the investigators are presently trying to ascertain the history of the relationship and the harassment. It is a sad reflection on the pressure at home, which can drive people to such extremes, even those who have established professional careers.
