A 23-year-old junior technician at a private multi-specialty hospital in Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly filming female colleagues, including nurses, while they were changing in the operation theatre (OT). The accused, identified as Suvendu Mohantan, a native of West Bengal who had been working at the facility for about a year, allegedly used his authorised access to restricted areas to hide his mobile phone and record staff in secret.
The matter came to light on Monday morning when female staff members grew suspicious of Mohantan’s behavior. One employee reportedly caught him watching the recorded clips on his device and immediately alerted the hospital management.
The hospital director lodged a formal complaint, leading to an FIR at the Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police Station, following a preliminary internal check.
Mohantan's phone has been seized by the investigators, which reportedly had several videos of the staff.
They are now working to determine if any of the footage was uploaded to the internet or shared through messaging apps. While the legal proceedings are underway, sources close to the investigation mentioned that Mohantan may have targeted the staff after being rejected by a nurse he was interested in. Police are also expanding their probe to see if the dressing rooms were similarly compromised. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, and further questioning is currently in progress.
