A 22-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged murder of his girlfriend. Police have said that the woman, 22, was found dead about 100 metres off the road in the Mollem Wildlife Sanctuary. As per reports, the couple had travelled to Goa from Bengaluru with the intention of getting married, but a dispute between them ended in tragedy.
The accused has been identified as Sanjay Kevin M, a resident of North Bengaluru, Karnataka. The victim, Roshni Moses M lived in the same locality. After allegedly killing her girlfriend, Sanjay fled, but was caught from Hubballi, Karnataka, with the help of local police.
According to police, the couple had arrived in Goa recently. "They came to Goa from Bengaluru with the intention to get married. But owing to some unknown reason, which resulted in a dispute, there was a dispute between the two and Sanjay killed Roshni, after which he threw the body in the forest,” police said.

The crime came to light on Monday evening, when Roshni’s body was found in the forest area in South Goa. Police confirmed that her throat had been slit. Superintendent of Police (South Goa) Tikam Singh Verma, who visited the spot after the body was discovered, said: “The murder was the result of a love affair, a marriage proposal and the dispute that arose from it.”
After Roshni's dead body was discovered, police launched an investigation and, thus, received a lead which pointed to Sanjay. He was traced and arrested in Bengaluru. Further investigation is underway.
