The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) received an email threatening a possible blast at one of its metro stations.
The unidentified sender of the email accused the metro staff of allegedly harassing his divorced wife and warned of attacking a station in retaliation. A First Information Report (FIR) in this regard has been registered under Sections 351(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal intimidation.
Bengaluru Police have launched an investigation after the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) received a bomb threat email to blow up one of its metro stations.
According to the complaint, the threat mail arrived at 11.25 pm on November 13 at BMRCL’s official ID from an address identified as rajivsettyptp@gmail.com.
He further described himself as “like a terrorist” and claimed to be “patriotic against Kannadigas,” prompting immediate concern among Metro officials.
This incident comes two days after a high-intensity blast ripped through a slow-moving car near Gate Number 1 of the Red Fort Metro station on the evening of November 10, killing 13 people and leaving several others injured. Since that incident, extensive searches have been underway across the country, and random vehicles are being checked.
The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport received a bomb threat, which was later declared a hoax, a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official told the media.
Recently, a bomb threat message was received on an Air India flight when it was flying from Toronto to Delhi, though the flight later landed safely in the national capital. Delhi Police received a message in the morning claiming a bomb threat for flight AI188. The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was constituted at the Delhi airport and assessed that the threat was "non-specific," sources told the media. The message was received at around 11:30 am when the flight, operated with a Boeing 777 aircraft, was mid-air and a little over four hours away from Delhi. An Air India spokesperson later confirmed that a security alert was communicated regarding flight AI188 during its cruise from Toronto to Delhi on Thursday.
