RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will arrive in Manipur on Thursday for his first visit to the state since ethnic violence broke out in 2023, a senior functionary said on Wednesday. He will spend three days in Imphal, meeting citizens, entrepreneurs and representatives of the tribal communities as part of the organisation’s ongoing centenary celebrations.
RSS state general secretary Tarunkumar Sharma said Bhagwat would arrive from Guwahati and leave on November 22. He last visited the state in 2022.
According to Sharma, Bhagwat’s programme includes separate interactive sessions with eminent citizens, Janajati representatives and youth leaders. On the day of his arrival, he will meet entrepreneurs and prominent individuals at an event in Konjeng Leikai, Imphal. On November 21, he will hold an interaction with tribal leaders from the hill districts.

Sharma said there was no plan in the schedule for Bhagwat to visit relief camps where internally displaced families have been staying for the past two years.
“This is not in the schedule as of now. The visit is mostly an internal part of the organisation,” he said.
More than 260 people have been killed, and thousands displaced, in ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki–Zo communities since May 2023. The Centre imposed President’s rule in the state after chief minister N. Biren Singh resigned, with the Assembly placed under suspended animation until the end of its term in 2027.
