The district administration in Bhopal has issued an order banning the use of loudspeakers and sound systems, including those at religious places, from 10 pm to 6 am. This step aims to curb noise pollution and provide relief, especially for students preparing for their upcoming 10th and 12th board exams.
According to the order, owners of DJ systems, hotels, restaurants, and bars must now apply for licenses to use sound systems, ensuring they stay within the prescribed noise limits.
Only one sound system will be allowed on DJ vehicles, and its use will be limited to two hours between 6 am and 10 pm, following the Central government’s guidelines on ambient air quality standards.
The ban, effective from January 23, is in line with Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal directives to control noise pollution. Violators of the order will face legal action under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The Additional District Magistrate emphasized that this measure is crucial to maintaining peace and reducing noise-related disturbances across the Bhopal district.
