Bigg Boss Kannada 12 set sealed over environmental breach

The set of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 has been sealed for violating environmental regulations, and the contestants are expected to leave the premises soon.

Authorities have sealed the house of Bigg Boss Kannada 12, located at Jolly Wood Studios & Adventures in the Bidadi Industrial Area, due to violations of environmental regulations. The popular reality show, hosted by Kannada star Kichcha Sudeep and enjoying high viewership across Karnataka, has been ordered to suspend all activities.

Contestants currently inside the house will soon be required to vacate the premises as the studio works to address environmental compliance issues.

Following a site inspection, officials identified significant concerns regarding the management of waste and sewage at the studio. These findings prompted calls to halt the filming of the reality show. Activists from Kasturi Karnataka Janapara Vedike staged protests outside the studio, demanding that authorities stop the ongoing shoot until the environmental issues are resolved.

The inspection revealed that untreated wastewater was being discharged from the property into the surrounding environment, posing a risk to the local ecosystem. The show’s production team claimed that a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) with a 250 KLD capacity had been installed. However, inspectors found the facility non-operational and lacking essential drainage connections, rendering it ineffective.

In addition to sewage mismanagement, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) noted that solid waste, including plastic cups and paper plates, was not being properly sorted or documented. The absence of a clear process for waste management and STP operation further compounded the violations. The inspection also uncovered the use of two large diesel generator sets on-site, which were contributing to the studio’s pollution load and breaching environmental guidelines.

The KSPCB determined that the untreated wastewater disposal violated both state and national regulations, necessitating urgent corrective action. As a result, the board issued an order to immediately cease all activities at the Bigg Boss Kannada 12 set.

The continuation of the show now hinges on the studio’s ability to comply with environmental laws. Until all specified requirements are met, filming and related activities at the Bigg Boss Kannada 12 house will remain suspended.
