Six individuals have been arrested in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district for allegedly sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman, officials confirmed on Saturday. The incident took place on Thursday, and a search operation has been launched to apprehend two other accused who are currently on the run.
According to the police, the woman stated that she met one of the accused on a train. He reportedly gained her trust by offering the promise of a job and convinced her to get off at Kiul railway station. After she alighted, he called a group of his associates, and they allegedly took her to a secluded area where the assault occurred.
Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shivam Kumar said that after the crime, the accused gave the woman Rs 100 and asked her to leave the spot. She then approached the Kawaiya police station and filed a complaint naming eight individuals.
Based on her statement, the police quickly launched an investigation and arrested six of the accused from an area under the jurisdiction of the Kawaiya police station on Friday.
Efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the two remaining suspects. Meanwhile, the woman has been sent to the nearest government hospital for a medical examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
