As per the order, schools have been asked to provide a compliance report to Bihar Education Project Office.

Private schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board in Bihar’s Kishanganj district have been directed to teach Urdu.

The directive has come from District Education of Office (DEO) Nasir Hussain.

The DEO issued a letter to all private schools, notifying them to teach Urdu in the “minority-dominated district”.

The DEO, further, asked to ensure that necessary arrangements are in place for students to study Urdu.

As per the order, schools have been asked to provide a compliance report to Bihar Education Project Office.

“All the private schools in Kishanganj district, recognised by CBSE Board, are requested to ensure the necessary arrangements for the study of Urdu to the willing students and provide the relevant compliance report to Bihar Education Project Office, Kishanganj,” the order dated December 12, 2024, read.

This decision comes after the meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) which was held in October, 2024, where Congress MP Javed Azad and Congress MLA Izharul Hussain noted that Urdu was not being taught in private schools in the district.

Meanwhile, Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar on Monday said that the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will probe the complaints raised by the aspirants over the 70th Integrated Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), 2024.

Speaking to media persons, Kumar said, “It is their right to say what they want, but the Commission will probe this and will take an appropriate decision…”

The protesting students in Patna are demanding the cancellation of the Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024 conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on December 13.

On Sunday, Bihar police lathi-charged and used water cannons to disperse the protesting BPSC aspirants in Gandhi Maidan. Following the incident, Bihar Police registered an FIR against 600-700 individuals, including Jan Suraaj Chief Prashant Kishor.
