The Bihar government is working quickly to start projects worth over ₹10,000 crore. These projects were announced during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s ongoing ‘Pragati Yatra,’ according to Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena.
In an interview with PTI, Meena said that approvals have already been given for over 100 projects. The goal is to start work before the upcoming assembly elections.
"As of January 29, a total of 168 projects have been announced. We have approved 103 of them, which together cost more than ₹11,000 crore. Our plan is to approve all projects by February, complete the tender process by April, and begin work by June," Meena said.

He added, "We are in a mission mode to ensure that work starts before the election code of conduct comes into effect."
The Bihar assembly elections are set for later this year.

The 'Pragati Yatra' began a month ago, with CM Nitish Kumar travelling across districts to review development progress.
The projects cover 18 different departments. Many of them focus on Bihar’s next phase of growth, especially in tourism. "There is a huge demand for eco-tourism, and Bihar has great potential in this sector," Meena said.

Another priority is improving urban facilities, such as building bypass roads to ease traffic congestion and constructing road overbridges at railway crossings.
Sports infrastructure is also being improved, with many new stadiums planned and playgrounds to be developed in schools across 6,000 panchayats.
Irrigation projects will also expand, including canal extensions and embankment strengthening.
Meena added that employment generation is a key focus of the chief minister. "In the past decade, 24 lakh jobs have been created, including nine lakh government jobs. This year, another three lakh government jobs will be added," he said.
