The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Bihar’s Water Resources Department was hacked, with its name and handle repeatedly changed. Officials confirmed the breach on Wednesday, raising security concerns. Hackers altered the account’s identity multiple times, impersonating government organizations, anonymous groups, and political figures.
The hacked account, originally @WRD_Bihar, was renamed several times, creating confusion. The cyberattack was detected a few days ago, prompting the department to seek help from X’s support team and the cyber police.
“The hacker repeatedly changed the account name and posted unrelated content. X’s support team restored the original name, but we are waiting for an official confirmation email,” officials stated.
German President’s X account also hacked
Reports revealed that the official X account of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier was also hacked. Hackers briefly changed its handle to @adolf_gov and used the slogan “Make Germany Great Again,” similar to Donald Trump’s campaign tagline.
They also posted an image of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini with a controversial caption promoting unity and strength, using the hashtag #MGGA (Make Germany Great Again).
