A paraglider sustained serious injuries after he lost control due to strong winds and crash-landed on the slab of a building in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, officials said on Saturday.
The victim, identified as Vijay Kumar from Bihar, is an experienced paraglider with nearly 18 years of solo flying experience. On the day of the incident, he went for a paragliding along with friends. While the rest of the group landed safely at the designated Chogan landing site, Kumar was reportedly carried nearly 20 km off course due to high winds.
According to the police, the accident occurred in Pehlum village of Jogindernagar, where Kumar collided with a concrete slab while attempting to land. Alert villagers rushed to his aid and shifted him to the nearest hospital. He was later referred to the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College in Tanda, Kangra, for further treatment.
A medical officer from Jogindernagar confirmed that Kumar suffered fractures in both arms and legs, along with other injuries. His condition is currently being monitored.
