Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu has created a furore in political circles by openly endorsing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and asserting that its next mission in Punjab would be to “bring back Sikhs who had converted to Christianity”.

Addressing a gathering in Rajpura, Bittu said that after playing a significant role in eliminating Maoists across the country, the RSS would now turn its focus to Punjab. He predicted that within the next five years, the RSS would ensure that those Sikhs who had converted to Christianity would be brought back into the Sikh fold.

Bittu also endorsed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day remarks praising the RSS, saying the Sangh had been instrumental in shaping India’s national outlook.

He announced that a new railway line connecting Rajpura and Malwa region with Chandigarh had been approved by the Prime Minister with an initial investment of ₹800 crore. He said the line would later extend to connect Malwa with Amritsar and Talwandi Sabo.

Bittu lauded Central schemes being implemented in Punjab and hailed Modi’s semiconductor manufacturing push. He accused the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of “looting Punjab’s money” and ignoring development.

Concluding his address, the minister urged Punjabis to back the BJP, stating that only the Modi government could bring about real transformation in Punjab’s economy and create jobs for the youth.
