Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Wednesday accused the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of working together. He said the Congress is strengthening its organisation at the booth level and preparing for the 2027 Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters after a party meeting in Moga, Warring said Congress is intensifying its grassroots campaign. He expressed confidence that the party would return to power in Punjab after the next Assembly elections.
He said the meeting was successful and part of the party's "Har Booth Congress Mazboot" campaign. Warring alleged that the BJP and AAP were acting in coordination and said Congress workers were being asked to remain vigilant at polling booths. He also asserted that the Congress was fully prepared for the 2027 elections and would form the next government in the state.
In a post on X, Warring praised the enthusiasm and commitment shown by Congress workers who attended the meeting in Moga. He said the energy and determination of party workers at the grassroots level reflected hope, confidence and a strong commitment to work for Punjab. According to him, the growing support for Congress is taking the shape of a people's movement.
Warring added that Congress remains strong at the booth level and credited party workers for being the backbone of the organisation. He said the message from Moga was clear that both the party and the people of Punjab are ready for the upcoming political battle.
Responding to claims of internal differences within the Punjab Congress, party MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa dismissed the allegations and maintained that the party was united.
Randhawa said any differences within the party had been resolved. He expressed confidence that Congress would emerge victorious and claimed that neither the BJP nor AAP would form the next government in Punjab.
Meanwhile, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema rejected the Congress allegations and expressed confidence that AAP would return to power.
Cheema said Congress was facing a wave of defections and highlighted the AAP government's record on employment generation. He said the government had presented detailed data in the Assembly on jobs provided to the youth and claimed that people now recognise AAP as a government focused on creating employment opportunities.
AAP leader and Punjab Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO also targeted the Congress, accusing it of failing to play the role of a responsible opposition. He alleged that Congress frequently disrupts Assembly proceedings and stages walkouts instead of participating in discussions. ETO said the government is ready to answer questions and debate issues in the House, but Congress prefers protests over constructive engagement.
