BJP legislators walked out of the Assembly on Wednesday, accusing Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of giving misleading figures on jobs provided by the government.
Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania said the protest was unnecessary and would not go on record.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s response to the question raised on jobs given, Sulah MLA Vipin Singh Parmar pointed out that there was a inconsistency in the numbers shared by the government.
"In July last year, the government said 34,980 jobs had been given. On August 15 this year, the Chief Minister said that 23,191 jobs had been given. How come there's a gap of around 10,000 jobs? Why is there such a contradiction?" asked Parmar.
The Chief Minister defended his government, saying jobs had been provided in education, health, forest, and IPH sectors. He accused the Opposition of ignoring the employment details he was presenting.
