Union Home Minister Amit Shah energised Jamshedpur with a grand roadshow on Saturday as part of the BJP's campaign to reclaim power in the state.
Passing through packed streets, Shah seemed genuinely moved by the large crowd and later shared on social media platform X, “The warmth and enthusiasm from the people in Jamshedpur are clear signs that the BJP is on its way to power in Jharkhand.”
This public display of support underscored the BJP’s strategy to strengthen its voter base in the region ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, he said.
Accompanying Shah were two key National Democratic Alliance (NDA) figures: BJP’s Purnima Sahu, the candidate for Jamshedpur East, and Saryu Roy of the Janata Dal (United), the NDA candidate for Jamshedpur West.
The leaders travelled through the city in an open-top vehicle, waving to the crowd and greeting supporters as flower petals showered down on them.
The streets of Jamshedpur resounded with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” as thousands gathered to witness the event. People of all ages, including youths, women, and the elderly, stood side by side, waving flags and cheering as the Home Minister’s convoy moved through the city centre.
Poll experts noted that focusing on Jamshedpur East and West in the roadshow reflects BJP’s strategic emphasis on these important constituencies.
The Jamshedpur East seat, in particular, has long been a competitive battleground for the BJP and its opponents.
This year, with Purnima Sahu as BJP's candidate and NDA’s Saryu Roy backing Jamshedpur West, the alliance aims to bolster its influence across the steel city.
The roadshow route covered several prominent areas in Jamshedpur, where party workers dressed in saffron had adorned the streets with flags and banners.
The sight of the Home Minister in an open vehicle alongside Sahu and Roy drew cheers and chants from all directions.
